Hey guys i have a problem with my 89 gmc jimmy you see i think its sumthing in the fuel pump or in the injectors or somewhere in between the two. It starts up and then it just dies. Every time you start it it will wait about 5 seconds and die unless you press the gas. The pump is working but i don't know if it has enough power or what? Can anyone help me out?

Hey BiggB, how many miles? Has it had any recent work done on it? Does this only happen in the morning, or everytime it has been sitting for a certain period of time?
Do you notice a lack of power when accelerating?

The ISC (Idle Speed Control) could be the problem, also the IAC (Idle Air Control unit) could be the problem. Also could be your EGR valve sticking open and will only die on deceleration and idle. Post the answers to the Q's above, and I'll get back to you.
