Im curious what everyone on the thread belives...
Personally i grew up Roman Catholic, but ive since become more Atheist/possibly Agnostic.
Yet currently becoming more fascinated with Buddhism (cant spell)

ive grown up in a christian home. but i was taught more philosophies than anything else. my parents are methodists, most of my extended family is protestant.

i know there is something after death. my own personal beliefs mostly reflect that of Jainism, but i claim no religion as of right now. structured religion gets in the way of creative expression.

I believe in myself. Every circumstance in my life so far has been the result of the consequences I had from decisions I had made. Therefore, I am the creator of my own fate. I have no one to blame nor answer to but myself. My reality is my playground of where the game is played. So, I guess you could say I"m a Sativaist.

Sleepingwraith, correct me if I am wrong but my understanding of nihilism is that it believes in the non-existence of everything and ultimate futility. It would seem that nihilists would also be narcissists seeing as they believe that nothing makes any difference then why not love only oneself (admitting that neither love nor self actually exist).

On that note, I believe in not trying to hard to believe in anything as it really won't make a difference one way or the other in what I say or do.

If you honestly believed in that nothingness then you see no purpose to your life and then logically you would simply kill yourself.

I didn't say life is nothingness. I said life is a journey into nothingness. Nothingness is non-existence.

That doesn't change my point. If you end in nothing you have no purpose and therefore no motivation.

so therefore your saying that the only purpose and motivation to your life is an afterlife.
Well my purpose to life is life itself regardless of becoming non-existent when one dies.

But you live for nothing because that is the end result. I do not live for an afterlife I live for the continuation of this life which is eternal.

As I said before- my purpose to life is to live. It cannot get simpler than that.
