Why must intelligent people be so sarcastic? [+ favourites]

The more inteligent they think they are, the more they feel they must assert this inteligence at every available opportunity. if they cant agree fine, then discuss it and answer the question, dont go off on random tangents about the stupididty of the question. if the question is so stupid, then it should be pretty easy to answer right?

ok, im done now, just wanted to point this out.

I'd disagree, im very sarcastic (all you have to do for proof of that is to look at my movie review page) but i'm not all that intelligent, especially.

I'll tell you a secret...

Anyone who tries to make someone else feel bad about themselves is themselves insecure in that exact area.

Hence someone who tries to make you feel stupid, is insecure about their intelligence themselves.

Also, compassion and empathy are signs of maturity and intelligence that generally don't go along with people who think they are smart. Hence if someone is sarcastic, or derogatory about a question, the best thing to do is ignore them because they are displaying their stupidity, and moreso, insecurity.

Well presumably he believes it is easy to answer, and that the person asking is stupid for not knowing it.

The most seemingly arrogant person is the most insecure. If someone is truly confident they never have to say it or call anyone else down.

Not all derogatory comments can be attributed to insecurity, but sarcasm with seemingly superior intelligence most definitely can.

I cannot stand such people.

I pretty often insult people who post stupid things... but only if they didn't post it to seek information genuinely, and moreso just to say something stupid/offensive. Or specifically if they are arguing like total hosers.

as my friend puts it, i am a "sarcastic bastard" and hes right on mostly. i usually dont lay it on to thick until ive known a person for a while. i love people who are witty and sarcastic, they seem more lively to me. i dont think its right to use it to hurt peoples feelings, but occasionally it gets interpreted incorrectly.

When certain things come naturally to you, you may not know that others have hard times with those things, and when they ask you a question that you think is a given, then the questions often come across as sarcasm. IMO

but neways, oi just dont think smart ppl are sarcastic... everybody can be, jsut some ppl are more then otheres, i mean there is this stupid tat in my histroy class at college and she think shes know everything but he dont and yet she is seriously sarcastic..

And plus...sarcasim can be fun
