Your Authentic Music thread
This thread links an idea (borrowed from Wyote) together with the ‘Write on the Subject of your Authentic Self' thread.

Music is perhaps the greatest art and one of the finest ways of expressing and communicating with the human spirit. I suggest that each user select a piece of music that currently resonates with an aspect of their most authentic selves. This means it has absolutely nothing to do with trends or popularity. It could be anything at all.

The idea is to post a piece of music that opens a window to yourself, and in a sense ‘speaks' on your behalf in a realm beyond words.

The easiest method I know to do this would be to decide on a piece of music, then do a search in YouTube or find something similar. The only proviso being that you should strongly identify with that music right now. And since nothing is static, you can return at some future date to post another piece of music that ‘speaks' for you, about you.

The visuals are completely irrelevant here, and for those users who have dial-up I recommend that you just post any video (or preferably picture free if you can find it) just so as long as it plays the music of your choice.

The lyrics are also secondary since this is different from other threads where words and their meanings are our only means of communicating with one another.

To coin a hackneyed cliché “Let the music do the talking”…about yourself.

PS: I suggest that all commentary to do with the music displayed be directed to an individuals inbox so that others are not discouraged or swayed by such commentary.

It is a cool idea.

Ive been having the HARDEST time trying to find only ONE song that sums me up though lol.

I have decided one "all time song" is too hard to do and just go with the suggestion of your "current" feelings.

This one I have related too ever since I first heard it, but in particular resonates with me alot right now.

BTW, while the pure sound of a song has alot to do with our feelings, it is very hard for some of us to not be influenced by the lyrics also.

To me music is about a sound that resonates within me first. But if the lyrics touch a chord also, then that makes the song "just right" on all levels. And I tend to gravitate toward them more than a song that has just one or the other.

Perhaps people should note if the song is a current summation of themselves and wether the lyrics have any influence in their choice also?

I'm really upset that i could not find the full version of this song because it is one of my favourites, the band is called Solomon's Wish, the album is A Wise Man's tragedy and the song is called Grand Scheme

It's been a slow transformation, but this song is now a very accurate mentality of mine. The Gorillaz song is still looming in the background, however.
