To overthrow Saddam is a good thing the action may be percievably wrong but the intent is good for it will save many lives.

and who is the judge of if those lives should be saved or not? god? or did god impower the people to make that choice himself, and if he did, then why is it a sin to judge. if he gave us the power to take down mass murderers, why not the common bigot? or a lying whore? now by "takedown" i dont meen kill, but with words. and that would be a sin. so if god does impower us to make "good" desicions, he would be a hypocrit in danming us to hell for juding our neighbers, because we are judging saddam. and aperantly thats ok.

Judging is not a sin. We are supposed to judge but we are warned that we will also be judged.

Ask Bush that question, maybe he thought the people would be more willing to support him if he made it sound more exciting.

ok. guess im an idiot. i just thought that when we judge we always show things like prejiduce and that sort. and i also thought that those were sins. im wrong though. just admiting it. but i still deserve respect.

What most people don't think about is that words like judgement, discriminate, and prejudice are not inherently wrong they can be used both ways though

Nicelly said, we make judgements all the time whether at the gas pump, we choose to pay or to drive off w/o paying, to prejudgements like that gives me gas[upset stomach] so no thank you I don't care to eat any.

those are not judgements. they are choices. there is a difference.

judgement
1 the ability to make considered decisions or form sensible opinions.
2 an opinion or conclusion.
3 a decision of a law court or judge.

Back on the subject of respect. Well there's a problem and the problem is that respect is a word, an idea, true respect is an emotion. Involuntary. It's not static. Respect can be gained and lost, therefore the only true respect is the respect that comes in a moment and leaves just as quickly. Do i think people walking down the street should respect me? I can only hope that they should but I understand that things i do may seem very respectable to me but be completely disgusting to others. I only hope that they respect that i am doing what i am doing and nothing more.

I have read all of the posts here, and am particulary interested in the discussions by etherealmeekle and awakenedwraith. In your prostitute vs virgin discussion, why do you speak of respecting a person based on a particular label and all the stereotypes associated with such? The reason I ask is that it seems as though Wyote said it best when he said that everyone starts on the same page, implying that any loss or gain of respect would come following interactions with the person.
