Light travels at 300,000 km/hour. I don't think your idea is possible. If an object were to travel far far away from earth, and then look back on earth you could see light reflected from earth from the past. However this light would only be white light, it would not form some sort of image of past events. It is incredible to think however that the most distant things that astronomers can see are about 18,000,000,000 light years away! (in comparison our sun is only 8 light minutes away) Its very mind boggling to think that light that we can see from these objects started aprrox 18 billion years ago! its the oldest light fossil that we can see. observation of very distant objects is in a very real sense equivalent to looking backwards in time.
