A Few Black Gold Inventions...
Not sure how original these are... but anyway...

The Adjustable-Flow Shower Head

Basically, you've probably heard of low-flow shower-heads. They save water, but still pretty much do the same job. But, if you've ever seen 'that Seinfeld episode', you'd know that they don't always do a great job of washing out the shampoo and conditioner from your hair when you're washing it.
Enter the 'Adjustable-Flow Shower Head'. Basically, you'll stay on low-flow until it's time to do your hair. Then flip the lever onto high-flow, to do your hair.
You'll still be able to wash your hair properly and save water at the same time.

The Shower-Fountain (also Sink-Fountain)

Perhaps you've seen a fountain before. Perhaps you know that a lot of fountains re-use or recycle the water. When the water comes out the spout, it goes to the fountain drain and pumped back to the spout. It saves using an endless supply of water.
Enter the 'Shower-Fountain'. This time, when you take a shower, the relatively still clean water that goes down the plug hole is pumped back to the shower head allowing you to re-use your shower water. You'll save water, and still be able to take a nice long shower.
One feature that should accompany this would be a water re-heater, so the recycled water is still at the same temperature you like.
Another application for this would be for the kitchen sink, for dishes, washing food, etc.
A further application might be for a car-wash.
You can probably think of a few more, now you're thinking about it.
It would kind of decrease the need for an 'Adjustable-Flow Shower Head', but 'hey!', that's progress for you.
Another feature would be a crude purifying system, to take out large and small contaminants.

The Individual Room Electrical Shut-Down Switch

This is something for a building with many rooms (and electricity!). How it works is, much like a fuse-box, you shut down all electricity for a room using a master-switch. The purpose for this is to reduce the amount of background electricity used when the room is not in use. This would be important as you may know, even when a switch is off it still uses a small amount of electricity. The shut-down switch would stop this going to the rest of the room, limiting the amount of background electricity flowing through the house.
The unit for the switch, like a fuse-box would best be inside a box, or in a location where it may not be confused with a light-switch or power-outlet switch.

The Standby-Switch for Dormant Appliances

As you may know, when an electrical appliance is not in use, if it is on standby, it still uses a small amount of electricity, part of which you can easily witness (the little standby light, or clock). But it still uses a bit more electricity. My best guess is that for something like a fridge or hot-water heater the standby electricity is proportional to the working electricity, which would be quite high.
If you had a second standby-switch, one for the original standby function, you could further reduce the amount of background electricity used. A bit like the concept you get from the 'Individual Room Electrical Shut-Down Switch', but localised to one high consumption appliance.

I do like all these ideas on review, but my favourite is the 'The Shower-Fountain (also Sink-Fountain)'...
