I see it in your eyes and I can hear it in your voice
You're goin' off to fight a war, you haven't got a choice
You used to sit around the lake and breathe the fresh clean air
But you've been picked and now you're shipped to fight them over there.
You were a peaceful, pleasant chap when you were here before
But men in power make the rules and you must fight the war.
Do what you're told they tell you and you prolly will survive
And if you want not to survive, but actually to live
You're out of luck and labeled as a traitor to the cause
You must repent and change your ever terroristic ways.
You must embrace the principles set forth by them that rule
And oftentimes you must consent to be the willing fool.
The puppet that will do its work and never criticize
The master's will, nor look too deep into the other's eyes.
The eyes which lie and tell you that you won't be killed or maimed,
Though history has repeatedly denied these specious claims.
With all the wars that have been waged by governments of men
With all the deaths of innocents; the blood been spilt by them;
Seems logically there ought to be a group of people who
Oppose the wars and lift their voices loud in protest too.
And someday when these voices are given their proper due
The wars will end and we will become kind and just and true.
