Patience in school/college
"I need patient-NOW!"

Classes and research papers are dragging me down to the pit of depression and insanity. How I can remain patient and not lose my sanity on the way? I'm taking a killer class on advanced writing which makes research papers look like child's play...and there's still 9 weeks left! (And the fact that I'm craving sun and spring doesn't help.)

a lot of people get so enthralled with school that they forget to set aside time to themselves. schedule fun time in just like you would study time. it sounds funny and you might think you dont have any time, but you do have the ability to make time if you truly want it. this will maintain sanity and make school tasks feel less monotonous. finding balance between work and play is key. you will find yourself more patient when you have had some enjoyable time to yourself. also, try to remember why you are in school. this should provide for some extra motivation, if you are there for the right reasons of course.

A good way to find more time is to simply stop watching tv. People can easily twiddle away three hours watching tv or a movie. It sounds lame and it is lame but it works.

I can't remember the last time I actually watched tv.

The patience I want it the one when you're in your toughest week, toughest night. Big paper, tough exam. What I try to do (with some degree of failure) is to plan ahead of time and study in increments, but then I end up overstudying the first portion of the notes and understudying the second.

But I follow both of your wise words already.

my advice still applies in your worst week. you simply take shorter breaks. doing things in increments is very good. if youre stressin, take five minutes, go outside or listen to a couple of songs. you should be refreshed and ready to work for another 20min and then take another five minute break if need be. the tricky part is finding the right increments for you. maybe its an hour of work and a half hour of play. whatever it is, you have to make sure you get as much out of both as possible.

the best way to be patient is to relax, if you are really worked up about a thing, you stop thinking clearly about it and worry, and dont do it the way you want to. if you make time for yourself even when it feels like doing so is the worst idea in the world, go out, see friends do your hobbys, and set a certain amount of time aside for working, rather than just setting off to work, and then wishing you were doing something else.
