having watched a show on the history channel about this I can say a few things but unfortunetlly dont rember too much about the show. Yes Hitler did write the book he also wrote a sequel to it but gave it to a friend to lock up. Also the funny thing about the book is it detailed his plans for Europe, even Winston Churchill read it and yet didnt realize the obious signs that Hitler was going to go to war with Europe and there fore didnt do anything to stop it.

This is a really deep subject and is more psychological than historical.

The tools and tricks he uses to coerce people into believing Jews are the enemy are spectacular.

He uses nationalism to focus the anger of the repressed people of Germany (because of the Versailles Treaty) against the Jews. The Versailles treaty was bullshit, and the Germans were mad for right reasons, but rather than funnel that anger and pain into positive change he funneled it into hate.

Which was readily absorbed and embraced by the unintelligent masses.

They didn't stop to analyze Mein Kamph to see its lack of validity. It has lots of stupidity in it. Ridiculous assumptions and connections.

But that doesn't matter.

The anger wanted to flow and so he provided them a passage.

But it's important to read and understand it for the sake of propaganda. You can relate it to the way Muslims are regarded now. In essence, grouping the enemy in a way that easily identifies them for the hidden purpose of making the people fear them so the country as a whole can "defend" themselves.

But this is all a facade for the target of such propaganda are people who have something that the rulers and upper class want in their grasp. In Germany it was wealth and power. In America it's the same thing... but facilitated by oil.

Good point, Decius- never ceases to amaze me of how the masses can be absorbed into one specific ideology, be it nationalism, be it hatred. Mein Kemph is a book I've yet to read and probably will witin the coming months. I'll post later.
