A pall is thrown upward at 20 m/s.

i need distance vs. time
velocity vs. time
and acccleration vs. time
all of these after 1 sec, 2 sec, 3 sec, 4 sec, and 5 sec.

all i know is that gravity has a downward acceleration at 9.8 m/s but i can use 10 m/s.

help.

ahh physics what a rediculous class. Remember when the ball reaches the top it's velocity is 0. vi=20m/s vf=0 a=9.8m/s squared. So now you have three things and can use the formulas given to calculate the fourth.
vf=vi +at
0=20 +(-9.8m/s squared)t acceleration down is negative
-20=(-10m/s squared)(t)
t=2 seconds to top

The trick with all or most physics problems is time particularly with kinetics and such.

yea, dont forget that squared part. if things fell at 9.8m/s the whole way down theyd never go *splat* hehe, altho that is still pretty quick. things fall exponentially faster. very important to remember.

Well yeah if it wasn't squared than the object wouldn't increase in velocity and would remain at 9.8m/s. The m/s squared represents acceleration which is change in motion. m/s is just the velocity at the momment.
