Ghost Dance Religion [+ favourites]

Today at work, during lunch I was bored, so I typed "A Ghost Dances Until The World Ends" in the address box and hit enter, just for the fun of it to see what I would find. The first thing I found was:
Ghost Dance Religion

Bet you didn't expect that did you? The internet is really cool, you can find all kinds of things out here. Anyways, in 1890, a new religion appeared. A deperate people needing something to believe, would dance until they crossed over into the promised land.

I didn't think it was weird, I thought it was a testament to the human spirit.

Sadley the indians were being killed, starved, tortured, inslaved, and basically stripped of all their rights - so they really didn't want to live and found for themselves a dignified way to die.

Who knows, they may have crossed over, maybe Jesus will return and give the indians the honor they should have been given.

Thank you for the link, I thought their was more to it than given so I read it & would have to insert this aspect.

quote:
According to Wovoka, converts of the new religion were supposed to take part in the Ghost Dance to hasten the arrival of the new era as promised by the messiah.
Although the Bureau of Indian Affairs banned the Ghost Dance (as they did all other Indians spiritual rituals), the Lakotas adopted it and began composing sacred songs of hope:

"Terrorist or tyrant, few may come to the Truth that both are poor choice."
