Colonization [+ favourites]

Colonization. What about it? If you look at history every colony has eventually rose up and established its independence. But what about colonizing another planet?

I once though it would be the solution to so many problems on earth, though probably not what you are thinking.

Say we colonized the moon. After 100-200 years it became stable and self-sustaining. Well eventually the colonists of the moon will begin to think of themselves as different and eventually as better than earth-bound people. this will eventually lead to war with the moon.

Would that be horrible? would it unit the races of earth agianst a common enemy? I have always wondered.

Any thoughts?

It'd be difficult to get the moon self-effieciet. There isn't a lot of resources.

But all war is bad. This one though would be unusually bad because it'd almost be like the Earth has parented the moon. We raised and developed it and now it turned on us. Like someone's child turning on them.

Jac is right the moon would be a hard place to colonize, weak gravity field wouldn't support the thick atmosphere.

On the other hand, a lunar base would require strict limitations & recycling of resources. Bad news would be high impact craters counts show that even a subterranean complex would be at risk.
