There are a gazillion different things changing amongst women and men so it can't be attributed to one thing.

Although I personally feel it is both the pressure women have to dress provocatively and the pressure men have to be "men".

I'm presuming Attolia, that your refering to the increase of rape cases in your country- the USA. The reasons depend on the two types of rape- date rape and Acquaintance rape.
Date rape reasons:
- women issues/pressure in fashion
- the stereotypical image of being a 'man'. Rather sad that is.
both as to what Decius mentioned.
- miscommunication
- socialization + alcohol and/or other drugs can have devastating consequences
- increase of violence

Acquaintance rape reasons:
- attempt to assert power and anger
- some people are sexually aggresive because they are insecure
- Forcing sex on another person makes them feel strong because it makes someone else feel weak

but why is it on the increase? well I believe it has to do with:
- media has a huge influence in movies, TV on fashion changes, violence
- maybe alcohol/drugs are becoming more acceptable
- growing insecurities

Yes, exactly what summit said.

I also think the reporting of rape is more common which will contribute to a supposed increase in it.

We are also in a time when it is somewhat beneficial for a woman to claim "rape" in instances that aren't quite rape for it lends them the ability to consider themselves victims.

I have met numerous women who made an event out to be like "rape" and even used that word, but with enough investigation it was more because they regretted the event and wanted to remove their own accountability from it.

i think another factorthat accounts to more more more of anything is there is more more more of the peopel who commit them.

I think that another major role in the increase of rape not mentioned is pornography.
