Alone a child refugee walks through barren land
His sole-worn feet strolling around a desert of sand.
Where the mist breathes the smoke of war
His lonely sole can bare no more.
Alone he walks carrying all that he does possess
His aching heart suffers midst his muted distress.
Not long ago he walked with his family
But now his tired heart wonders lost
As his mother and father are a grieving painful cost.
No water, no fresh air
Small hope in war-borne life that has no care.
Nobody to carry him along
Neither motive nor warming song
Just that land that he does long.
But will that glimmer of clinching hope
Be the light in his struggling cope?
Just another victim of someone's war
My God... He was only four.
