The intro to this movie really got on my nerves for some reason. it was way to long and basically pointless. i think i saw Clive Cussler's name about six times. amazingly enough it is not on the main webpage http://www.saharamovie.com/

Steve Zahn was hilarious in this movie. William H. Macey also did a fine job with his role (but doesnt he always?). other than that i was fairly disappointed. Mathew McConaughey was decent, but i would have liked him with a bit more mystery or gusto... something was just missing.

the plot was completely implausable, and the general idea of the story is somewhere inbetween James Bond and Indiana Jones. if thats what Clive was going for, he did a fine job. Breck Eisner is the one that failed. the directing and editing was nothing spectacular, a simple "blow the bad guys up and save the girl" movie... Steve Zahns character even points out this fact with a not so clever line toward the end of the movie.

i dont hate this movie though. it was a lot of fun. it simply had no depth, no soul. i stopped thinking about the movie almost immediately when the credits started to role.

6/10
