What the Bleep [+ favourites]

I finally saw this movie last night. I have been hearing about it from family, friends, and people all over the world from various magazines and web-related sources. It lived up to what everyone said and then some...

It's a documentary style film that explores science, quantum physics and spirituality and ties it all together. It explains from a scientific perspective that reality is an illusion and that we are all creating it with our thoughts. It talks about the idea that we are all part of god and that we are all co-creators of the illusion. It also goes into the effect that having programmed ideas of "right" and "wrong" has on us.

It talks about the source or possible sources of "thought" and how our perceptions and emotional responses keep us stuck in certain patterns, certain types of relationships and certain addictions.

But it does all of this without any real "conclusions" (which is the brilliance of quantum physics). It lays out some facts, explores some possibilities and ultimately lets the observer decide for him/herself.

In a word... brilliant!!! I highly recommend it.

Actually here it's playing at the Paramount. Probably the Indy circuit as well but it seems to have gone mainstream... just watch for it I guess. I heard about it for the first time a couple of months and I have been watching for it ever since. It finally hit here a week or so ago.

My ex has seen it twice at least in Denver, where I watched bowling for columbine in an indy theatre, but here in Pueblo it needs to go to Tinsletown or I'm screwed. Till it hits video or I make a long trip.

And she touts it highly as well.

The movie is call What The Bleep Do We Know!? (the "bleep" often replaced with a #$*! ). I saw it a few months ago and again last night. It really takes more than once to get the jist of the movie, but I really enjoyed it!

It is a multi-media "docu-drama" that integrates physics with spirituality. What I like the most about this film is the fact that it combines interviews with scientists and spiritual teachers with a story that illustrates the principles discussed, along with great animation that further illustrates the principles. Neat, huh? more on this to come.

Here are some quotes I found in another forumn a while back from the film. These are what got me initially interested.

"The average person considers their life boring or uninspiring
because they've made little or no attempt to gain knowledge and
information that will inspire them. They're so hypnotized by their
environment - through the media, through television, through
unattainable ideals of physical appearance, beauty and valor that
everybody struggles to become but cannot - that most people
surrender and live their lives in mediocrity. And they may live
those lives, and their souls, their desires, may never really rise
to the surface. So, they may want to be something else.

But if they do rise to the surface, and people ask themselves, Is
there something more, or Why am I here? What is the purpose of life?
Where am I going? What happens when I die? When they start to ask
those questions, they start to flirt and interact with the
perception that they may be having a nervous breakdown, and in
Reality, their old concept of how they viewed their life and the
world starts to fall apart."

-- Dr. Joseph Dispenza

"Asking yourself these deeper questions opens up new ways of being
in the world. It brings in a breath of fresh air. It makes life more
joyful. The real trick to life is not to be in the know, but be in
the mystery."

-- Fred Alan Wolf, Ph.D.

"It's time for a course correction on our trajectory
along the path of our adventure, and that course correction is the
movement to a new paradigm. It's just an expansion of the old. It
just says the universe is larger than we thought it was in our
modeling and it's always larger than we think it is."

-- William Tiller, Ph.D.

"We're living in a world where all we see is the tip of the iceberg.
The immense tip of a quantum mechanical iceberg."

-- John Hagelin, Ph.D.

"Is it possible that we're so conditioned to our daily lives, so
conditioned to the way we create our lives, that we buy the idea
that we have no control at all?

We've been conditioned to believe that the external world is more
real than the internal world. This new model of science says just
the opposite.

It says what's happening within us will create what's happening
outside of us."

-- Dr. Joseph Dispenza

"Your consciousness influences others around you.
It influences material properties.
It influences your future.
You are co-creating your future."

--William Tiller, Ph.D.

"To acknowledge the quantum self:
to acknowledge the place where you really have choice, to
acknowledge mind...
when that shift of perspective takes place,
we say that somebody has been enlightened."

-- Amit Goswami, Ph.D.
