2008 presidential election: Hillary Rodham Clinton [+ favourites]

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is the Democratic Party's frontrunner in the US 2008 presidential election, according to the political pundits.

Remember the pundits? They predicted John McCain for President early in 2000. In early 2004, they were predicting that Howard Dean would be the star of the inaugural ceremony on January 20, 2005.

Despite the experts who are ready to put Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton into the White House in four years, there are lots of obstacles in her path, including several possible 2008 presidential candidates in her home state of New York.

Hillary Rodham Clinton could face 2006 re-election challenges from former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Governor George Pataki or Secretary of State Colin Powell.

If anybody beats Hillary in 2006, they would take a giant step toward the Republican 2008 presidential nomination.

And that's just in New York. Don't forget John Kerry, John Edwards, Al Gore, Jeb Bush, John McCain and perhaps Arnold Schwarzenegger, if the constitution gets amended. There are lists of possible 2008 presidential candidates all over the Internet, including a very long list at http://www.100ToWatch.com .

In other words, it's way to early to pick the next President. Does anybody remember President Gary Hart or President Ed Muskie?
