grandfather time [+ favourites]

This Topic has probably been raised before but im going to pose a question anyway:
Im sure most of you know the grandfather theory:
What would happen if you went back in time and killed your grandfather/yourself seeing as you would cease to exist in the future how could you then go backward in the first place to do it?

In order for time travel to be possible, two conditions must be fulfilled, either, life is pre-determined, or there exist an infinite number of different dimensions, each containing all possible outcomes of all possible situations.

Time is fragile, if that were to happen, you and any shard of you would be eliminated, it would be as if you never existed.

Like Angel said, I think the dimensions theory is the best possible answer.

i agree with you there have thought about that before
but you know hypotheticaly.

one question though just because you cant travel forward doesnt mean you cant travell back doesa it?

Myself, I think there could be a way of travelling forward that we haven't discovered or tapped into yet.

Yes the multi-dimensional theory... but also there's the quantum physicists space/time continuum... the idea that everything is happening simultaneously and that time is only a manufactured aspect of linear thinking and, in reality (beyond reality as we know it from our linear perspectives) time doesn't exist.

Both have been explored at length. A multi-dimensional existence is how some explain deja-vue... either you have been there in another dimension or you enter the same space that a multi-dimensional you is in at the same moment.

In the idea that everything happens simultaneously, all outcomes are pre-determined.

Yeah, as I said, either life is pretermined, or the dimension thingy. Basically, what u said about the space continuom thingy is the same thing. All moments of time are taking place at the same time.

I'll explain the pre determined thingy.
Imagine that before going to work, u put ur car keys on the table. Next thing u know, the'r gone! Then after wards, through a time travel machine, u reach into the past, and steal ur car keys, and then it strikes you that thats where the car keys went!

Again, for travelling foward too, the same two conditions must apply, either the pre determined thingy, or the alternate universe/dimension thingy.
