I've heard talk of such things in the past. When I was a truck driver, our terminal manager was in Special Forces during Nam. He told me that the U.S. created the drug trade during Nam and he helped, they did it to help finance the war. He hated this country more than any one I know for what he was made to do.

It is hard to believe - but then I found this link on Iraq.net.

I have heard the same stories, I tend to think that in Nam it was more of a rogue element. However in South America, the limited resources to fight Communist aggretion (sp) may bear a covert stamp of approval.

I used to work for a chief who used to always say, "In The Name of God and Country" and role his eyes. Because you could do anything no matter how wrong as long as it was "In The Name of God and Country."
