Medicinal Marijuana [+ favourites]

Here in California, we have a law that allows for the use of Marijuana for medicinal use. I am all for this, but some people do not get the fact that this "drug" has wonderful benefits for people that have chronic pain.

A lot of people agree that people with diseases such as AIDS and Cancer should be able to use Marijuana because they are terminally ill, and that they are going to die sooner anyway. The fact is that there have been no evidentiary facts that marijuana has any worse an effect on the body than cigarettes.

In my opinion, marijuana should be used medically everywhere, and for any ailments that cause prolonged periods of pain.

Weed is legal in BC .

I'm for it. Especially since marijuana used for medicinal purposes is filtered anyway (harmful chemicals are minimized).

Not really... you can't smoke it but it is legal for medicial reasons (I think)

However laws are really lax about it here.... if a cop sees you smoking it in general they don't care.

They have hemp stores and what not. I'm not really into the scene, but I figure they should legalize all drugs or make illegal all drugs (including alcohol and cigarettes). Being in the middle is stupid.

I agree Decius, if there are laws on drugs they should include everything. I mean look at the prescription drugs that they push, fucking crazy ass side effects.
What does it take for a cop to arrest you for MJ then?

Funny how alchohol can be legal while marijuana isn't, when the effects of alchohol causes more trouble (in my opinion, anyway).

Part of it no doubt has to do w/ sales from alchohol and cigarettes raking in dolla dolla bills for the government.

Decius is right, there are hemp stores full of materials made of hemp here and there. Mostly in downtown.

Well, you will get popped if you walk by a cop smoking a doobie. lol

But if you're in your house smoking it and the cop thinks you are, he isn't going to bust you. It's more like "you shouldn't smoke it, but if I can look the other way and not see you then do whatever"

Grow operations are a huge problem here though. You can't distribute weed or anything... I am not 100% sure, but I hear the penalty is quite severe.

If you get caught growing/selling/distributing you will get arrested and thrown in jail. It is kinda lax like Decius was saying but the laws are still there.

Every now and then there are protests where the are hundreds of peolpe blatenly passing weed around and smoking J's and the cops just sit there making sure everything goes smootly, and that it doesnt go out of hand.

I myself do not like smoking it or seeing the use/sale of it but hey ....that's me.

It's a little lax over here, but not much, I think it depends on the cop. If there were protests here like that, They would surely be arrests, probably beatings and harasment too.

I knew a young lady who was pregnant and had a problem with morning sickness. She smoked dope to make her feel better. The doctor told her it was ok, it would be less harmful to her than any drug she could prescribe. The doctor warned her however not to smoke any of it 60 days before she was to give birth as it would be found on a blood test and they would take her baby away.

Something is wrong with this picture.

Interesting...do you know for sure that this girl is telling the truth?

I would'nt expect that from a Doctor, just because it would make him/her liable for anything that could happen...including everything that isn't MJ related.
