All religions have a crazy part to them. The old testament is especially a testament to the horrors humans release or desire to inflict upon others.

Judaism is equally as crazy as islam is today, and about 10x more crazy than Christianity (mainly catholic) is today. Out of all these abrahamic religions however, christianity has come the farthest in regards to "civilizing" itself. Then judaism... and islam is in the back corner. However, most religious jews belong to the reformed judaism branch, which is like the protestant form of judaism and the main "protest" it has is in regards to the holy land. ultra orthodox are much fewer. a few millions out of tens of millions.
