Addiction Rehab
What do you guys think is the best way to overcome a general addiction, whether it be drugs or anything that gives us that buzz?

I have been a smoker on and off for almost my entire life. I grew up in in a time when far more people smoked than didn't. The longest period of time that I did not smoke was between the ages of 38 and 42. During that time a day did not go by where I didn't crave a cigarette. In order to get through the day I would tell myself I need to abstain from smoking today. For me abstaining was an easyer concept to deal with than the finality of quitting. Eventually my life situation changed and I went through a divorce. I started hanging out in clubs on the weekends. At that time you could still smoke in the clubs and after a couple of drinks with half the people around me smoking well it's not hard to figure out what happened.

For the past three years I have been smoking 4 cigarettes a day. Not the best solution to the problem but in my mind it's a whole lot better than 30 a day.

After Neecha proclaimed that God was dead intelligent people no longer have a higher being to believe in. Same goes with Buddha, Krishna or what-have-you. As human beings are the supreme beings all we have left to battle an addiction is to suffer from lower beings. Those lower beings basically are food, water, shelter, sex and safety.

When your addiction drives you broke where you can't afford to eat or live in a shelter then you might start changing your ways.

My addiction became less pronounced when my money ran out and i was a half step from being homeless. I lived in a homeless shelter with despicable people. Even that I tolerated while i could still afford my high. But then the money really started to run out and that's when I started making changes because I didn't want to live on the streets.

My recommendation is to feed your addiction until you hit rock bottom. Then you either die or you start getting better. Now, I don't spend money on prostitutes. I just stick to free porn on the internet. Like I said, I've moved up from my addiction to female flesh. (although I'll take a freebie if a babe offers it )

in truth addiction do not exist, but unfortunately evil free wills out of others freedom rights abuse ways exist

the problem appear from where self freedom dont seem to want a particular existence to itself nor mean smthg existing particularly, the problem appear then when someone is relatively true so not one just a free there present sense

unfortunately again noone speak about those facts that everyone know, it is a lie that any move or end has a cause, there is nothing else that exist but freedom and freedom is the opposite of will

so everytime someone dont want any, a mass run over him saying o yea we want, and a song start playing we want u, poor zero right there
merdas when would anyone else say the truth

i dont want to sound too passionate about it but admit that all that rubbish preachings about survival way for strength value cant b a serious fact but to minority of clan

since when strength is a value to start with\/

how value exist if it must stay strong, stop that insolence to least level of logics existence
and if there is no value why that insistence to mean creating it????

i have my answers or more insights about the issue but it is out of subject here

i was saying that in truth addictions do not exist

u must fight with ur body possessions bc u didnt make them so smthg think to abuse that fact to mean ur bodies freedom property

the problem is what there cant b fight if there is no stand and there is no stand if there is no positive realisations
so ones are forced to pretend being positive about smthg in order to defend themselves rights, they are forced to get use to become fake and helpless

i stand for truth stand but honestly it didnt work
truth is not anyone nor someone truth is freedom superiority so powerful freedom win

It is extremely hard to follow your posts absolutely because the grammar is off and lots of the words don't match what it seems you are trying to say. Mind you, I want to read your posts, but it is too difficult. Perhaps you can take more time and try to perfect your english a bit so it is easier to read? (i am assuming english is not your first language)

Decapolis: Doesn't the fear of cancer prompt you to stop? Or is it kind of like "i've smoked this long, what difference will it make?"

how ur access to read my posts is what justify them and not me feeling well about writing them, just dont read what u do not like nor understand and especially never enjoy hearing a word for

and take urself some more time in trying to enlighten urself about bein only u among more then billions others so u r surely never right objectively speaking, so take ur retirement when u mean to value urself as superior exclusive expression above all

and cancer is an absolute negative thing so willing to take advatange of that fact to mean judging another of being negative one as the cause of catching cancer necessarily, reveal ur subjective oness reference to ur exclusive stand

Decius
Honestly I do not fear my own mortality. I cannot change what is inevitable. I can however live my life in a fashion that offers me peace of mind. Do I wish I was never a smoker? Absolutely! Even when I abstain from smoking I am still a smoker and the only way for me to quell the urge to smoke, is to smoke.
I think the thing that most addicts fear the most is not death but life without their drug of choice.

Can't quite disagree with that. Something about the fix, a craving that cannot be subsided.
