5th Century BC Mohism defining the US today
quote:
Should the ruler be unrighteous, seven disasters would result for that nation. These seven disasters are: (1) Neglect of the country's defense, yet there is much lavished on the palace. (2) When pressured by foreigners, neighbouring countries are not willing to help. (3) The people are engaged in unconstructive work while useless fools are rewarded. (4) Law and regulations became too heavy such that there is repressive fear and people only look after their own good. (5) The ruler lives in a mistaken illusion of his own ability and his country's strength. (6) Trusted people are not loyal while loyal people are not trusted. (7) Lack of food. Ministers are not able to carry out their work. Punishment fails to bring fear and reward fails to bring happiness.

Remarkable. Knowledge - conclusions based on accurate observation become prophetic.

Wow, when I first saw that third picture, in a flash my mind assumed it was a third world country image - it took a moment to realise that I am looking at a picture of Americans.

The greatest myth about the USA is that the president rules it. It's a great illusion that sells newspapers, books and commercials.

What rules a society is the people and the enforcement of law. The people in America mostly mind their own business in real life. In the Media it seems everybody is participating in some kind of war whether it's culture, gender or some other controversial issue. I know people who never plug into the hype or news about America that the Media sells and they are perfectly happy and are without a care in the world except the REAL issue in any society which is survival.

The only real power a president has is to wage and declare war. And even that requires a casus belli that is out of the hands of the president.
