Perception. How we perceive the event. "You can live life as if nothing is a miracle, or as if everything is a miracle" Einstein

Normal is not an absolute. Every event has consequences. All events are unprecedented. Spectacular and amazing are human concepts whereas the universe is candid. For me the only logical answer is "nothing".

There are philosophical possibilities to the question but this is not a philosophical riddle. It is grounded in reality - although expansion, that is moving in the right direction.

I would say the big bang isn't considered inconsequential, so it wouldn't be the right answer.

What makes an 'inconsequential'... not consequential.

just clarifying. the big bang was the most inconsequential thing to ever happen because without it we would not be here today.

Had to think about it for a sec to remember the answer. An absolutely normal, inconsequential event becomes spectacular, amazing, unprecendented, and seemingly impossible when it is predicted with 100% certainty.

I'm sorry but I don't completely understand. Can you explain how it is amazing and spectacular when it has been predicted with 100% certainty?

Say someone pours out some cereal. His friend comes to him and hands him an envelope that was mailed out and sealed a week ago. The friend proceeds to empty his cereal bowl and count every flake, raisin and almond slice in it. It has 42 raisins, 245 flakes and 21 almond slices. He then weighs the whole thing and it weighs exactly 135 grams. The friend then opens the letter and in it are the numbers: 42, 245, 21 and 135.

Decius, can I ask you your level of education and perhaps what you chose to study? I hope you will understand this is not an insult, I have read some of your posts and in a short period of time have gained respect for your input. Also, I am a new member and so I cannot ask you this directly, so I chose to ask you in a thread... hope you don't mind. : /
