A CTL of 3 indicates that Decius has been a member of Captain Cynic for some time and continuously engages in discussions throughout the site.
quote:
'For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day' - God made everything in 6 days? Obviously this is factually incorrect, yet it is exactly the word of God. One need not re-interpret the all knowing, all seeing omnipotent God. So either it was written and crafted by an unintelligent man or God is bad at science.

Jesus was the son of God. Not a mere prophet like Mohammed or teacher like Buddha.

Jesus is the only man in history to have died and risen from the dead.

Christianity is improbable because being teh son of God is One in Infinity!

It's not one in infinity... it's one/(the population of earth).

More importantly, however, a prerequisite to being the son of god is not being a human born on the planet, therefore, comparing Jesus to all the other humans is a false comparison, and bears no probability at all.

A correct comparison would be the odds of being the son of god vs all the people who were born of virgins who were supposed to be the son of god, who ended up not being the son of god

quote:
If someone were to ask you if belief in something that wasn't real, but something that both loved and protected you according to you, if that belief made you happier, would you say yes?

Probably.

If someone were then to ask you if people tend to choose to believe in things that make them happy more than things that make them sad, would you say yes?

Probably.

That means that there could be a great many people who choose to believe in something that is not true simply because it made them happier than believing it wasn't true.
