Starring Sam Rockwell and the voice of Kevin Spacey.

This movie is another one that displays the rare ability for Sam Rockwell to be able to carry an entire film on his own, reminiscent of Tom Hanks in Castaway. Sometimes actors are placed in that position and you realize that they are not equipped to do so (Michelle Pfeiffer in What Lies Beneath).

This movie is a sci-fi drama/thriller. I can't go into much more detail without revealing some parts of the plot. Suffice to say it's a very isolated film (Sam Rockwell works on the moon, alone) save for a friendly computer (similar to HAL) voiced by Kevin Spacey.

It starts off a little slow, but soon gathers momentum and becomes pretty engaging. It is all supported by a score by Clint Mansell (Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain) which isn't spectacular, but adds to the film in key moments.

This is an independant film so it doesn't have massive special effects, but the effects that are used are effective and it doesn't appear to be low budget at all.

Recommended for at least a one-time watch.

I watched this film yesterday for the second time, and I really enjoyed it. Sure, it regurgitates themes which recur in many sci-fi films, like 2001: Space Odessy, but it does so in an original way, even including certain comedic elements, like Rockwell's alarm clock playing the song "The one and only" every time he wakes up.

It doesn't really thematically copy any sci fi films I have seen. Not sufficiently to warrant "regurgitates". The use of programmed AI is a generalized theme that is always going to be present in futuristic sci-fi movies, as is the concept of cloning.

Saying it "regurgitates" is like saying any movie that has a dog as a pet is regurgitating lassie - dogs are often pets and the themes surrounding that dynamic can vary greatly.

This was very original, in general, using futuristic concepts that are shared in many sci-fi movies.
