I was thinking last night and came across an interesting fact...

People who traveled on the Concorde could easily hear each other when they talked, even though the Concorde travels faster than the speed of sound (around Mach 2 at times)...

I then hypothesised about it being possible to further speed up sound, perhaps faster than the speed of light (and maybe much faster still)...

(I then thought it would be impossible to slow the speed of sound down or increase the speed of light with similar methods, and then starting fantasising about talking to people on the other side of the Universe in near-real time...)

ah a wondrous concept. Orson Scott Card (popular sci-fi author) has used this theory a lot in his books. he called the communication device an "ansible"... pretty interesting stuff. it would be fabulous to think that if creating a triangulation of communication (heh) you could have people in the future speaking to people in the past. and vice versa. but that would require an immense amount of speed, exceeding the speed of light, so i dont think its quiet possible.

If one can currently call someone from new york at 3 pm to another in california at noon. It's just a matter of time before we're talking to people from even further reaches of space and time.

To me, it would seem like we're going to speak in real-time. the only difference would be what time it was.
