My Life As A King [+ favourites]

The greatest addition to WiiWare yet.

The third installment of the Crystal Chronicles series, and probably the most addictive of the three. I had some Wii points and bought this game on a whim, and I'm very glad I did.

The game is completely different from other Final Fantasy games in that you personally never undertake a quest of any kind. Instead, you play the role of a young king and enlist fellow citizens to do your dirty work. Each day your adventurers will come back victorious or flee home to safety. As they gain experience, the town prospers and as the king you are able to further build your kingdom and in turn, make your adventurers stronger.

It's a fast paced game with days flying by in no time and it does get repetitive at times, but the game is a lot of fun for short bursts of play. And just when you fear it may be getting boring, your adventurers defeat a boss and all of a sudden you are building and customizing everything in your kingdom.

The game itself is 1500pts which might seem steep but it's a fairly lengthy game with lots of replay value. They almost could have gotten away with selling it at retail value like any other Wii game disc. Extras are also available for purchase, giving the game even more depth and playability.

If you are a Final Fantasy fan you gotta check this one out. Warriors, Thieves and Mages abound!

It's kind of frustrating actually, that this game has so much potential yet falls just short of being amazing.

It would be perfect if:

- There were one or two more job types (red mage)
- Adventurers could die, or there were some sort of actual threat
- They added one or two more areas to build on (kingdom expansion)
- You could manually change an adventurers job (ask directly!)

This game ultimately just left me wanting to play Dark Cloud 3.

Yea, when I beat it it was the least satisfying victory ever.
