Horrible Things Happen, and I must be Okay with it. [+ favourites]

Bush beat Gore by 5 electoral votes as a result of Florida, the state his brother was governor of. He beat Gore in Florida by 500 votes out of 6 million, and there were clear issues with the polling stations and the voting mechanisms used, making it unlikely that Bush actually beat Gore by such a small margin. In addition, although he officially did beat Gore by 5 electoral votes, he lost to Gore by over half a million votes overall, making him the first president in over a hundred years to win the presidency despite not having a majority.

His VP, Cheney, was CEO of Halliburton before becomming VP. After Iraq was invaded, Halliburton was awarded a no-bid 2.5 billion dollar contract to rebuilt Iraq. Halliburton is currently being investigated for numerous criminal charges including the gang-rape of one of their employees by other employees, overcharging the pentagon, and receiving special treatment in regards to government contracts awarded.

George Bush is the lowest rated President in US History at 19%. He has passed law after law after law discriminating against the small man in favour of the lobbying big man. He has outlawed online gambling, filesharing, handled the Katrina disaster horribly, and demolished personal freedoms in favour of governmental power, not to mention the war in Iraq and his failure to catch Osama Bin Laden.

I said this about 6 years ago, and I was criticized for it - now the critics are less, but the logic is as sound as it ever was and I was never smart - they were all moronic assholes.

It is over now, the heist of the free world. The middle east is devastated and your money has been given to the republicans. The US dollar has dropped in value by about 30% since George Bush entered the picture, for all they did is print more money as the economy went to hell.

Terrible things happen, and the people read tabloids. Horrible things happen, and I must be okay with it because I can do nothing about it.

I can do nothing about it because the people are not educated, not experienced. I cannot teach them experience - all I can teach them is the truth... that is all anyone can teach anybody.

It is experience that permits one to absorb this or not. The next experience will be tragic - it will be devastating, and horrible. And it will change America - it will provide experience, and then people will want to learn.

some people think that terrible things happen and i cant do anything about it cause im just one person. and others think this is horrible im going to do something about this.
it sucks to hear people say terrible things happen cause people are not educated. . . right i agree wholeheartedly. . but believe in the individual and have your own beliefs that are huge and take action..

i am interested in what this next big tragedy will be for us.
and yeah it sucks that tragedy makes people get off their asses.

No, something great is going to happen... or not... either way the most prepared will lead or follow their way through the coming times...

But the Bush / Clinton Era just goes to show that standing on a principle isn't always enough... when you are horribly outnumbered by those whose principles are out of whack...

If Hillary wins against McCain... that would place a Clinton or a Bush in the center of power for approx. four decades....

That's a monarchy... or something like it...

How long can we delude ourselves and behave as if we are not in such an elitist society...? Shouldn't we learn to function in one successfully and stop complaining about it...?

It is what it is...

Well, let see bush invades Iraq but such actions are not so uncommon actions for American presidents. Then bush & the republic deny civil rights in America as well as in Iraq. Yet for all the illegal => unconstitutional actions taken in the NAME of National Security, not only doesn't Congress reapproach such actions but bush is re-elected[?]! Driving to visit my cousin I spot a republican billboard . . . don't remember what it said but it did put forth the implication that they didn't have any hand in these actions? Eight years (more if you want to count the cold war itself) of the Bush War's and they act as if they have no other choice but to deny civil rights, violating Gennva Convention rules on the treatment of prisoners, etc.
Hmm . . . ya right the people got off their lazy lorals
