Ron Paul - A -Thon

From the date of this post till the 30th of November, I am opening myself up financially.

If you donate to the Ron Paul campaign and provide proof in this thread (somehow), at the end of this period I will add up all the donations and match the total amount on December the 1st.

So if the total adds up to 500 dollars, I will donate another 500 dollars. The maximum I will donate is 1000, so we can set that as our goal.

I don't know if this will fail or succeed, but it might be a good idea.

I knew you liked this guy but I wasnt aware you were in such support of him.

wow....he is a politician.....

I have watched a few of his ads and listened to a few of his speeches now.

Why are you supporting him Decius?

There are a lot of reasons, but I'll be very specific and brief:

The one thing politicians know how to do is run their mouth off while they do like the antichrist. Most people can't tell the difference, and even I will admit that anyone can be tricked.

So, I'm basing my support of Ron Paul on his actions:

Only 2008 Republican presidential candidate to have voted against the Iraq War Resolution in 2002 (this means every single other candidate supported Bush)

He has never voted to raise taxes, and has never voted to approve an unbalanced budget.

Voted against a Constitutional amendment to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag of the United States.

Turned down government money on the principle that taxpayer's money should not go to politicians.

He opposes the draft, the federal War on Drugs, socialized health care, the welfare state, wants to eliminate the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Emergency Management Administration, and the Interstate Commerce Commission, is opposed to the Patriot Act, oppsed to federal regulation of marriage and the ban on internet gambling. He wants to eliminate income tax,

He supports gun ownership (stating that this was created by the founding fathers to permit citizens to protect themselves from the government), habeas corpus for political detainees.

Have you seen nay evidence that these actions are just or 100% authentic?

Maybee this is just another ploy or scheme to get into office?

Being a politician is just like being in business. You need to find that angle to become succesful.

He's been doing it for like 30 years or something and has been consistent that whole time, as far as I know and have heard.

In fact, his detractors mainly point out that he is TOO strict about his following the constitution. This, to me, means he is consistent.

In fact, his nickname has become "Dr. No" because he's a doctor and apparently he always votes against tax increases and anything unconstitutional.

Supporters are organizing a large fund-raising day for the Ron Paul campaign on the fifth of November.

Yes, this is the day they refer to in V.

So, I again bequeath you to put your apathy aside, watch at least one Ron Paul video, and try to use your money for more than burgers and fries.

I'm a Canadian, and I'm the one taking the initiative to entice you to fix your country. Because I'm a good person?

Yes, but it's also economic.

All my business is in the US and with the US dollar lower compared to the CDN dollar than it has been in almost THIRTY YEARS (for those of you that don't know, our dollar is now stronger than yours... which means with one US dollar you can only buy 93 canadian cents) I cry every time I have to convert money.

It's a sad day when a capitalistic democratic country like the US's currency is now more worthless than the dollar of a useless socialistic welfare state like Canada.

Do your part, be smart. If you intend to live in the US for at least the next ten years, the increase in value of the US dollar under Paul's administration will pay you back the $100 donation you are making now, ten times over.

He has consistently returned a postion of his yearly salary as a congressman back to the US treasury because he thinks congressmen make too much money - come on people.

Today will likely go down in history as the largest single campaign fundraiser by an independant group in US history.

It is estimated they are raising approximately three thousand dollars a minute and will break the 4 million dollar mark by the end of the day. It is possible, however, that that number may be as high as 6 million.

It's really a shame at how old he is already. hopefully two terms, it doesn't seem likely he'll see it through, although I'm not aware of his current health. And what's even worse, I don't think there's going to be someone like him after he passes.

I've watched several of his videos now, and it seems like he's the most logical about our situation and everyone is basically saying no. I really think that these candidates just want to fight and see who's the biggest kid on the block rather than protecting what's in our best interests as a united country.

thank you decius, you have randomly inspired me to look more into politics.. because I'm getting about that age where I'm going out into "the real world" and should really start becoming concerned about what's happening in our country and the world around us.

Giuliani actually had the nerve to insist Ron paul retract his statement about inviting attacks on the U.S

Like the first money bomb, Sunday the 16th of December was the second one.

The first money bomb set the record for the most amount of money earned on the internet in one day for a presidential candidate (4.7M).

Today, Ron Paul has not only demolished that record, he has set the record for the most amount of money collected in one day for any presidential candidate in US history, with approximately 6 million dollars collected in this 24 hour period.

He is now, by a large margin, the top GOP candidate in regards to funds collected in the last quarter of 2007. Giuliani, who was leader of the pack with 11.7M is now far behind the massive 18M purse Ron Paul's campaign now has to spend.
