Tis true, alas. It seems Don MacLean’s song, American Pie has become somehow prophetic, and at some point in the last decade, music’s “soul” has departed to the great Beyond. (And Im not talking about the death of James Brown.)

I find most music today nothing more than brightly packaged elevator Muzac, with attractive whore/mascots to help it go down better.

So most music I listen to is a lot more dated. Here are some arstists who I listen to which I think you may find aren’t all about “Lets do it. (Coz I love you tonite.)” Followed by a nice ballad of “How could you cheat on me after our eternal 2 week love?”

Movies are the same in their lack of depth and meaning today, as you say. But I will have to get back to you on that one. Just because I like something, doesn’t mean it’s good. And if there isn’t a thread about favorite movies I suggest you make one.

P.S. I admire your energetic passion on this site Daneaothoc. And the fact you don’t always believe you are right, and are happy to listen to all points of view before forming your own.

I wish you well in keeping that passion and open mind beyond your early twenties.

And in your battle with Ironwood over your stance on Bush.

I think ironwood will enjoy the debate though. And he’s the sort of guy who can see you aren’t just stirring shit. And appreciate the fact you are actually looking for genuine discussion and answers.

What are your personal preferences as far as entertainment is concerned? "Good" is a highly relative term.

Often times we like what we relate to the most. It is difficult to find music and movies which resonate your own feelings and thoughts and even more difficult to find ones which express a concept that is of particular significance to your own life.
