Who isn't uncertian? [+ favourites]

Hi Eva, I'm eighteen years old, and am moving down to Tennessee from St. Louis for college in less than a month. I applied to that school on a whim, and for sake of getting out of my parent's house, I decided to go there. When I went for the orientation, I was shocked to learn that the greeks and ministries ran the campus. As an atheist and a person with a disdain for the 'greek' life, I know I won't fit in there. I am going to give it a chance, but I'm already looking at apartments in Chicago. I know Tennessee isn't for me, that whole 'Southern Hospitality' thing kind of makes me sick, but since I'm only eighteen, do you think it's right to be constantly moving around at such a young age. I mean, what if Chicago isn't right, or San Francisco, or Seattle? Do I just keep moving, or do I settle?

Hi Nomad,

Let's both begin by taking a deep breath (in all seriousness, do this) and acknowledge that you are 18 years old which means that you have the freedom to make mistakes and that these mistakes will actually be educational experiences that you will cherish in the future. In the future, you will think that what you decided was perfect, even if it seems completely wrong now.

This isn't a pleasant dream: It is factual. If you do your best right now, even if it turns out to be wrong, you will actually adore the mistake you made and the mistake you made will create purpose in you - this will let you further grab hold of what you want to do in this world for the rest of your life.

You should absorb these two concepts, even if it doesn't emotionally change your level of fear and confidence, you should consciously always be able to take a deep breath and remind yourself of these concepts so that you overcome any stressful situations that cause you severe anxiety.

That covers, to some extent, the first problem: Your method of making decisions and your perception of them.

The next part is the decision itself. Here is a question:

Why do you have disdain for the 'greek' life?

Thank you for your response.

I don't hate clubs; I've been in a few of them myself, but from what think about Greek society is that it's conformity in the worst sense-not for their emotional advancement but for their status and financial security. I guess it's good that they find eachother though.
