This is a movie about Idi Amin, a nutjob who took over Uganda for a brief period. During this period, he slaughtered lots of people who he deemed supporters of the enemy government. Now, I will correct myself. This movie isn't about Idi Amin. It's about his doctor, and his doctor's dick. The movie demonstrates how the doctor and his dick get into trouble and interact with Idi Amin, but there is just a little too much focus placed on the doctor. That being said, Forest Whitaker does a pretty wicked job (and does earn that academy award) and the movie does provide quite a bit of screen time to the crazy dictator. You do get to absorb a lot of his aura and personality, and his insanity is very good. There is, however, a lacking focus on the actual attrocities he committed and you only briefly graze the horror that befell Uganda because of him. I personally was interested in Uganda, and seeing a docudrama that was similar to Hotel Rwanda which included personalized characters, but which had as its central focus the attrocities of the time. This movie had as it's central focus the doctor's dick, and then the attrocities. All in all it was a good movie however because the doctor is a good actor, and his dick was quite interesting to follow around. But you're always sort of trying to get passed that (and hope the movie does too) to really get into the grit of what happens when a crazy insecure bastard of a dictator takes over a country and lets his soldier boys loose on the populace. Scenes to remember: Just focus on the first time you see Amin. It's stunning how they capture his aura. 4/5
