keeping the latin theme:

Fabricate Diem Punc - Make my day punk!

Cuius testiculos habes, habeas cardia et cerebellum. - When you have their "attention", their hearts and minds will follow.

(both of the above are from the discworld books by terry pratchett, which i would recommend to anyone with a slightly cynical outlook and sense of humour especially decius given his above post)

probably because a comaprison of the marines to dogs is not intended to be complimentary to the marines, and you have a high opinion of them.

@ decius, my guess would have been someone like churchill, but i'm guessing it's probably an american. or just for the sake of irony it could be bush.

okay after having googled it i remembered having heard it before, and did recognise it but wouldn't have got it with searching for it.

mine would be,

"By judging others before getting to know them shows you what your really like"

and

"What is peace without war? What is love without hate? What is death without life?"

"sad is the heart that loves. its usually broken"

Yes it would be an improvement but:

Without war how would we have come up with the word peace? How could we even

comprehend that people could possibly hate each other enough to have wars?

But how would we recognize love when that would be all we ever feel

how could find a base to look at them and distinguish anything if we never had angry

thoughts toward each other.?

How could we ever find any of that out without experienceing it.

we would recognise love by a base of general amiability to the rest of humanity in comparison to the much stronger feelings, if anything we should feel love more strongly because it would cover a larger percentage of the scope of human emotional reaction.

why is it necessary to understand hate and anger? why do we want to comprehend that people could hate each other? it gets us no-where.

Do we need a word for peace if there is no other state to be in, what does one word matter?

not that this discussion belongs in this topic, its mostly covered in here http://www.captaincynic.com/thread/11613/14/if-theres-a-god-why-is-there
