Things Appear Smaller When Seen from the Distance [+ favourites]

Things appear smaller when seen from the distance…

Things heard from a distance may also sound as if they are smaller…

Of course the actual relative size of the object making the sound or reflecting the light may have some impact on how large they are when sensed from the distance…

If the smallest is a tiny dot representing something very far away, then what is the largest something can appear as it gets as close as it can to you?

As thoughts never gets far enough away from the mind to appear small, and feeling never gets far enough away from the body, then they would probably appear as the largest things can get…

Which is why everything we do is based on what we think and feel. Objects and sounds outside of our body have significantly less impact on our behavior, almost none unless they conflict with our physical body directly. Even then, that conflict causes feelings and thoughts internally which consume us and we cannot escape from... which ultimately creates our actions and reactions.

We are at the mercy of our thoughts and feelings, but we are also able to control them to a greater degree than anything else outside of our bodies.

I do a little with photography, Macro-photography requires calculation of exposure increase to compensate for falling of light values in proportion to the magnefication of the lense. . . as close focus requires the (rear -- back) film plane to extend to twice the lense length so light decreases by a factor of 4 at a 2 to 1 magnication.
