America is F***ed [+ favourites]

The American populace can be described with one word: Pathetic.

Civil servants such a politicians, the police, and soldiers are doing all sorts of f****ed up things, and the American populace sits around watching.

Today is the vote, and there are Republican calls being made threatening people not to vote. There are multiple states with "technological" problems preventing voters from voting (Florida again... do they have f****ing monkeys in office there?)

This is pathetic. F***ing pathetic. Americans should cry themselves to sleep knowing they live in a country that can blow up anyone else but still can't provide its citizens a fair political system.

Republicans are such hypocrites!! Did you see recently in the news, that guy (I forget his name), who is one of the leading republicans in Colorado in the fight to ban gay marriage who has a wife and 5 kids and was caught with a male prostitute WHILE HE WAS DISPOSING OF CRYSTAL METH!!! Hypocracy happens so often with republicans, look at Rush Limbaugh. "ANYONE WHO IS AN ADDICT SHOULD BE PUNISHED TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW1!!" - a little while later it is found that he is addicted to prescription medications. How could anyone be in a party where no one is what they seem or even truly happy with what they believe in?

Refresher course for every American and general freedom lover of the world. Because America is indeed fucked, this election has not changed this.

I think there are a great many words that could describe the American populace and it's a little unfair to call an entire country pathetic. That being said there are a great many problems with the current state our government is in, obviously. There are many apathetic voters who don't seem to realize the impact their votes have on the government, the country, and thus their lives. There are also many politicians who are only in the game for their own ends, probably power and/or money. None of this means that America is f***ed or that the entire populace is pathetic. It just means that like every other nation in the world we have our own problems that we need to sort out and fix. America needs a new voice to lead us into the twenty first century and repair the damage that certain administrations have wrought on our image as a country and a people. I don't know of anyone like that at this time but there's no doubt someone out there who can reach America again. Until that day comes we have to keep doing whatever we can do to improve things in our states and voice enough complaints that we can get our voices by the politicians so that things might improve.

That's a big load of steaming horse shit. Nice (supposed) pacifist garbage that doesn't actually say anything... it's a let bygones be bygones attitude.

But would you be this apathetic if your daughter was viciously raped and then murdered by American soldiers?

I think not. Hypocrisy is the name of the game, KGB.

Edit: I'm going to soon write an article about America, coining it as "The land of false idols raising a generation of hypocrites"

KGB, you are understating the problem.

We are invading and occupying countries based on proven fabricated and manipulated intelligence and flat out lies.

We are just as far as Germany in terms of that part, and the death toll has far surpassed any threat Saddam ever posed, so well into WAR CRIME territory.

This is not a joke, nor a misdemeanor, we are killing, invading, occupying, kidnapping, torturing, lying, propagandizing, actually reversing the constitution and bill of rights, spying domestically, etc. The economy is being gutted, the dollar de-valued.

What you fail to understand is, our situation is growing just as dire as '30's Germany, the people didn't rise up, the world had to go to war to stop the madness.

One day you are going to wake up to history books talking of the horrors of our wars, showing them for what they truly are, and its not pretty.

Your going to be shocked at what has already taken place and how you once said it wasn't that bad.

Well, I don't recall saying that it wasn't bad although my post may have given the impression that I didn't think it was that bad. However, I am well aware of the atrocities that all countries have commited/are commiting/will commit. On the other hand I don't choose to believe that there is nothing the people can do to fix the problems. Admittedly, it may take very drastic measures to turn the world back on a better course than its current state but nothing is beyond redemption. Nor do I propose that we forget all that has happened. I realize that changes have to be made but I also understand that these changes will only come from people who are aware of the problems because the people who aren't aware never know there are problems. I am not apathetic and I would think my first post would have made that abundantly clear; I am very angry at what is happening all over the world right now in just about every country imaginable and I feel that people need to step in and say something. I'm not sure where this antagonistic attitude towards me comes from (apathetic is a huge insult to anyone concerned about the survival of the human race) and I fail to see where my feelings are incorrect (other than the fact that I may have indeed presented the problem in a less severe light than it truly is). That being said I seem to be the only one who believes there's an answer out there as everyone else seems to have given up on mankind. Now I may be wrong, but if I am then the other posts are fairly confusing and don't present the proper argument they are supposed to.

You are apathetic because you fail to place blame upon those that are deserving. Your post is full of rhetoric that is meant to distribute the blame.

This thread is about AMERICA. Stop talking about world peace and other completely ludicrous ideas. (and before you jump up with some ridiculous measure defending the 'dream' of world peace, nothing is accomplished when you try to solve all the problems at once. This is why it is a ludicrous idea)

I needn't even say this (and this is why I am hostile towards you) but AMERICA is in a unique position. It cannot be compared to North Korea or Zimbabwe or even Italy or France. AMERICA is in a unique position, is performing unique attrocities, and is not at par with other countries.

Like a Republican, using the same incredibly manipulative techniques, you are attempting to shift the blame from those that are at fault to everyone because they are all part of the human race. This is not the case.

Your idea that you believe you are the only one with a solution could not be farther from the truth: You are the one with the least realistic grasp of the situation and are therefore the furthest from providing a feasible solution.

Recognizing where the problem arises is the mathematical premise to providing any solution. The fact that you attempt to defend AMERICA by stating that the world as a whole has problems is why you are a hypocrite.

It is because you are biased. Or uninformed. Either way, do not attempt to detract other peoples' statements without a sense of validity.

America is f***ed. Don't bullshit.

FIne. We'll focus on AMERICA. But to be quite clear American government does not equal America. Yes, the people in power are commiting terrible atrocities, certain members of the army have commited terrible atrocities, I don't deny this and I know where the blame goes. There are many people in America who are to blame for atrocities that may in fact rival or even surpass 1945 Germany. I understand this. That being said what is your proposition for correcting America? I have of course stated mine (though not on this thread) that the government needs to be changed and drastically. But from what I can tell of your thread you seem to be implying that the country and its people should be wiped out and the experiment tried again somewhere else. So then, fine, let us say you're right and America is f***ed and I am biased. What is your solution for America?

Good... now that we're on topic, the question you are posing therefore (via a statement) is "Is it the American governement that is to blame or is it the American people?"

You seem to believe the government can somehow be blamed, segregating the people from it.

This is the fallacy. The government is the people. The people fund the government. The people vote the government. The people support the government.

Just because you appreciate the fact that Americans are killing and murdering and raping and pillaging exactly like pirates does not mean the rest of America does.

So the question is, do Americans know what is going on?

Yes, they most certainly do. Everyone watches tv... everyone watches movies... everyone first hand witnessed Katrina... everyone knows about Michael Moore. Everyone can access the internet.

So the question then is... why don't people do anything about it?

And the answer is... apathy. The American public is apathetic. And this is a short cry from pathetic.

Americans eat too much, they consume too much, they waste too much, and as a result of this horrendously irresponslible slavery to consumerism, are an epidemic on the rest of the globe.

US Children:

1999-2000
At risk for overweight 28.2%
Overweight 13.9%

2001-2002
At risk for overweight 30.0%
Overweight 15.4%

2003-2004
At risk for overweight 33.6%
Overweight 17.1%

US Adults:

1999-2000
Obese 30.5%
Extreme Obese 4.7%

2001-2002
Obese 30.6%
Extreme Obese 5.1%

2003-2004
Obese 32.2%
Extreme Obese 4.8%

Obesity, like imperialism, is a very bad thing. Everyone knows this. Yet Americans are still failing to put the fork down and keep stuffing their fat faces.

If there is apathy towards oneself, if the slavery towards consumerism creates such a sense of self-loathing that over a third of the populace can't even take care of their health, do you think they have the capacity to love a dying child in Iraq?

America is f***ed because Americans have reached a level of decadence that is creating a social and economic collapse of the life they know of. This has ocurred in every single leading civilzation since the beginning of time. The corruption of the government matched with the illiterate apathy of the population cause the fall of the empire.

The only way out of this mess is for the populace to, in a sense, grow a brain. This obviously will not happen by choice since every American in America has the choice.

It must be hammered in. And it will be. There is only one realistic solution and one hopeful solution...

THe hopeful solution is the words I type and the videos people watch and the information that is floating around will actually start to make a difference in the way Americans approach the world outside their own self-loathing.

The realistic solution is something much more drastic should occur.

Obviously I am hopeful because I created this website and promote the awareness of the problem, but that doesn't mean I believe the realistic solution isn't the answer... I just can't bring myself to face the horrible nature of it. That doesn't prevent it from being most probably an event we will see in the very near future.

All right, to address a couple of points first:
1). Yes, the people do vote for the government, however, this does not mean the people always support the government. Sometimes a government strays too far from the will of the people and the people have to reevaluate their vote. Obviously, people vote wrong sometimes and this can be corrected. It was seen a few days ago in the Congressional elections when the Republicans failed to pick up any new seats in Congress; the first time that has happened in decades. Will the democrats be any more in tune with the will of the people? Only time will tell but the people can make a difference.
2). Yes, obesity is a growing concern for many Americans and has been on the rise for quite a while now. I do however, feel that obesity doesn't really have any real connection to murder. Apathy for being healthy doesn't exactly equate with allowing a child to die. I think Americans as a whole are inclined to mourn for the dead than they are given credit for though there are admittedly many apathetic people who don't necessarily care so much about it. Americans span the entire spectrum of emotions and the atomic bomb is never a solution, it is only a cop out. The media plays a big role in what people see in the news and thus what they know about what is going on with the government. So my new proposal is to start up new journalism schools that teach ethical and honest journalism so that a new generation of reporters can bring actual news to the people. This is certainly a more realistic approach than world peace and is more of a solution than an atomic bomb.

There is certainly a deep rooted link between obesity and murder. You just have to ponder that possibility. Everything is linked, somehow. If I were to explain it, it would be of no use to you.

It should not take people in this day and age 8 years, a hurricane, a false war, and the loss of civil rights to start voting correctly.

Tied to the above statement, what you are suggesting is a good idea but not a realistic one. You want to start a school for the next generation. So you believe we can continue doing what we are doing for the next 40 years? Additionally, do you believe that in doing so you will not receive severe opposition from people much more powerful than you?

Such ideas are good ideas... that;s all they are. Nothing realistic. I would feel pity towards someone attempting an endeavor such as the one you are suggesting as I'm certain it would go no where.

You see, the link between consumerism and the average American's lack of self-worth creates a country of prostitution... this is the primary problem. Americans are prostitutes... they can be swayed in any direction by a variety of impure things that the powers that be have plenty of. These things are represented in the consumer market, and are attained by money.

Therefore, the only way to change the way Americans think is money (So you whore them) or abuse (so you punish them for being whores).

This is why America is f***ed. No one has the money to do it and the desire and information. Therefore, the abuse, hammer, bomb must occur.

I see a bigger problem here than just the corrupt American government and the ignorant American people. How sad it is to see people that are informed that have already given up.

"The only way evil can triumph is for good men to do nothing."

Pessimism is our enemy here, not simply "everyone else". If you want something to change, you must first believe it can change. If you want to fly in the sky, you must first believe it is possible. People like you, Decius, are such a waste. You can know all there is to know in the world but if you don't have the balls or the drive to do it, it's just a bunch of memories in your brain, not a solution. Go on, try to tear what I've said apart and tell me I'm living in some unrealistic, imaginary world. Well I don't care, I'd much prefer my view of the world than yours. At least anything is possible where I'm standing. Where I am, I am truly free.

I am free! I smoke weed and feel very very ( ) sad when I see people dying on tv! but I smoke weed and go to college and I will make a huuuge difference!

Why?

Because I am happy in my bubble with chocolate bunnies and world peace!

Poor Chris... people like you hate people like me, because people like me address the fact that making change is not easy. So, weak as you are, you conclude I have lost hope...

Because you are too weak to have hope in light of all these difficulties.

Real men don't need fantasy. They get pissed because their ideals are not reality, and they kill themselves to make it so.
