Visual Learning and Diagrams [+ favourites]

It is commonly said that around about half (or more) of all communication is visual and about half (or more) people are more visually based learners. These amounts do tend to differ from statistic body to statistic body, however.
What I am wondering is what happens when we learn from ourselves, and talk to ourselves?
Do we make use of diagrams? And,
Should we place emphasis on the kind of diagrams we use and attempt to develop ourselves here?
How would these diagrams appear to us? Also, how do we make use of these diagrams?
What other important visual tools do we have?

Note: The other modes of communication and learning of note are auditory and kinaesthetic.

I think when we talk to ourselves, and learn from ourselves - it's called 'internalization'. And, it depends on the individual whether a diagram is needed for the memorization and rentention of the information that is being absorbed into our head. Sometimes, it helps a learner to create a visual image in their head, other times, it's easier to associate that idea to an aleady existing idea in our head. That is as far as I can go... I'm not sure about the rest of your queries. Wah wah wah....
