| Riddley Scott - How the hell did he survive?  [+ favourites]
Thus far, every theatrical release I've seen by this tool has sucked ass (except for Aliens).
The Blade Runner that was released on screen was an attrocity. Legend was equally horrid. Gladiator was a piece of dogshit. Kingdom of Heaven starred Orlando Bloom... in a serious role.
However
It seems that every one of his directors cuts seems to be heaps better. The Blade Runner director's cut is a good movie. I'm going to watch the directors cut of Legend and I'm certain it will be much better. Even the director's cut of both gladiator and kingdom of heaven will probably be better.
So my concern quite simply is, how does this jackass survive in the film industry if all the movies he makes suck until they come out on DVD/VHS?
I guess I can think of an answer (like his theatrical releases are still better than Adam Sandler movies) but I think a filmaker that doesn't stick by his art and fight to release what he wants is a dirty little whore.
