What is hope? Is it an emotion? Can it be considered a reason to believe in any faith when using logic and reason? Is it an ideal? I'm litterally clueless as to what it is, but I know I feel it.. Sometimes.. What classifies "hope" as false hope? What fallacies, or lack of, differ in the two? Why is one better than the other? A conversation between Summit and I. Josh:... I Get It Now, Trust Me. says: why are you still arguing with christians? i actually want to know Andrew says: im not. well partially Josh:... I Get It Now, Trust Me. says: well, proving then wrong Andrew says: the whole motive is to provide information to naive ignorant people, whether they be christian, agnostic, religious Josh:... I Get It Now, Trust Me. says: k Andrew says: We should have a reason to believe not a duty to believe. remember that Josh:... I Get It Now, Trust Me. says: ofcourse is hope not a reason? Andrew: hope is an emotion. it may have reason. But depends on what you mean by "hope" Josh: i have no idea what hope is.. Andrew: "hope" is funny isn't it Josh: sarcasm is meant to hurt, irony is meant to make light of. both are humorous. which is hope? Andrew i guess its to wish for something with expectation of its fulfillment. Andrew: we should have a reason to believe not a duty to believe. says: to look forward to something with confidence or expectation Josh: not good enough. what is its cause and why is it so irrational when thought up? Andrew something that is desired. thats a cause and reason Josh: yes it is. so, why not then? why not on sole hope? Andrew: huh? wot do u mean Josh: why not believe using nothing but hope for something better Andrew: because hope is believing that something is possible even when there is some evidence against it Josh: but there is evidence for it Andrew: not always though "i hope i could fly" is false Josh: i get it now Andrew: but "i hope i do well in the exam" has potential hope can be probable or it can be illogical Josh: yeah so what classifies as probably hope? probable * Andrew: probable hope: something that has logical chance of occuring. So for instance, the chance of me throwing a 6 is 1/6 and the hope part is that it hasn't occured yet, but there is the urge for that event to occur Josh: but, for the things we have hope for, it is rarely so easy to decipher the information as logical or not Andrew: well yeah it may be hard to find out the chance, but there is probability. Its like chaos, unpredictable but probable Josh: i think i understand
