Answers without understanding mean NOTHING! [+ favourites]

I joined this forum a few days ago and I've been seeing a few potentially good posts that didn't fully get their point across, or didn't explain their contribution well. I think it is important to note that if you have a contribution but can't relay it well enough for the people on this forum to understand it, it in turn means nothing. Just a thought.

I think that some answers, like a song, movie, or piece of art, are purposely abstract because for those receivers that take the time to explore the answer, it is more fulfilling and a more educationally communicative process if the entire line is not drawn out for them.

You see, I disagree. Perhaps philosophy is an art, but which do you find more useful: an eloquently designed response that a select few could understand or a response less abstract that is understood in larger quantities?

Well, there's good art and bad art. If you're referring to crypted answers that 1% of the people will understand, then that in itself would also make for a bad movie.

But good art is something where 90% of the people will get curious about but not understand immediately.

I speak somewhat cryptically nowadays because I've found that the ones that want to actually learn something will find reason to be curious about what I say. Those that want to oppose what I'm saying for biases will ignore my comments anyways.

However, if I explicitly lay it all out the intelligent have little to work with and the ignorant will have plenty to poke holes into with improbable conclusions.

Interesting idea. How is it working out for you?

Exactly like good art would: The closed minded people nod and walk away telling themselves "that's an interesting perspective" and the open minded grab the rope and hop into the rabbit hole.

I just hop in the rabbit hole, no rope. Am I still open minded?

You need a rope. Without a rope, you miss the scenery have have no say in which direction you move.

I figured the rope was so you could get back out?

Having the rope is just smart.
