Imogen Heap- Hide And Seek [+ favourites]

Sad

Where are we?
what the hell is going on?
the dust has only
just begun to form
Crop circles in the carpet
Sinking feeling

Spin me round again
and rub my eyes
this can't be happening
when busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads heavy

Hide and seek
Trains aren't solving machines
All those years
They were here first

oily marks appear on walls
where pleasure moments hung before
the takeover
the sweeping insensitivity
of this
still life

Hide and seek
trains and sewing machines (you won't catch me around here)
Blood and tears
They were here first

mm what d'cha say?
mm that you only meant well
well of course you did
mm what d'cha say?
mm that it's all for the best
of course it is
mm what d'cha say?
hmmm that it's just what we need
and you decided this?
ooh what d'cha say?
mmmm what did she say?

Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
Mid sweet talk newspaper word cut outs (paper word cut outs)
Speak no feeling no I don't believe you (no I don't believe you)
you don't care a bit
you
don't care a bit

(Hide and Seek)
Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
Mid sweet talk newspaper word cut outs

(Hide and Seek)
Speak no feeling no I don't believe you
you don't care a bit
you don't care a bit

(Hide and Seek)
Oh no, You don't care a bit
Oh no, You don't care a bit

(Hide and Seek)
Oh no, You don't care a bit
You don't care a bit
You don't care a bit

This has been one of my favorite songs for a while now. This song is quite powerful because it (well at least for me) it embodies cheerfulness, peacefulness, nostalgia and sadness. My expectations of what the video clip would be like were different in comparison to what the lyrics actually portray and their meaning. What do you think?

To me it symbolizes what most music means to me now, giving up. Its pretty, and it makes me smile, but it makes me want to cry to. The thought of someone giving up on their feelings because they are too strong to take makes me litterally want to die. Which is what the video was about. She was angry at the guy that killed her boyfreind and she didnt know how to deal with it, and when she tried to confront him, her freinds stopped her and she gave up on understanding at that point. She accepted what it was.

By the way, the real video is extremely lame. Its just her singing in the camera with too much make up on. Youtube has it.

Yeah I see that that is what the video may suggest. But what about the lyrics. What are they telling us. To me it's a song about how ruthless and cynical this world has become. How two people have moved on in reality, and are looking back, reflecting on past events and questioning their presence. In that there is almost an uncertainty of not being able to understand what's happening.

Its not too bad, it fits in the sense that the song is basically a solo, and this is closer to how it looks when she performs, minus the instruments, extra glitz, and lighting.

And I did like the use of some of the lighting.

And at least she didn't have the rats nest of a hairdo that she does from time to time.

Oh, its just fabulous music! what an amazing talent!!!...

I absolutely love this stuff, and am off to see if I can buy some Cd's now (but have to agree that I much prefer watching her without too much make up plastered on her pretty face).
