it is possible to ignore the media. does anyone force you to watch tv? does anyone force you to read the paper or listen to the radio, or come online. if we are that bothered about not being affected by the media, then we could go and research the facts outselves. but we tend to watch the news or read a paper as its easier. as for sexual stimuli and the media, ther media, (american media in particular) shows us plastic people, people we are never like to meet. so we rely on our own instincts to decide what we like out of the available range. chances are you will never see anyone who looks like britney spears or charlize theron, but most of us will choose a partner. it isnt neccessarily even our media that controls it. its society, in roman times, a specific type of woman was attractive, with the large nose and strong facial features, in some african tribe, they want large lazy wives, because this is seen as a sign of prosperity (you have enough money that you eat well, and your wife doesnt have to do anything), whereas in our current society we want people you look young, are very thin, and have large breasts. it will change at some point, but nothings going to stop it. the media picks up on what we currently find attractive, and broadcasts it.
"So Schrodinger's Cat is not only neither dead nor alive, but might also be sexually aroused by elbows and peanut butter?"
