possible to convert video to mp3? [+ favourites]

hey i want to download movies and put them on my mp3 player to listen to it, not watch it. is there a way that i can convert the audio from downloaded videos into a usable format?

i think it unlikely, isnt the sound file embedded in the film? if the video and sound files are seperate, then it should be possible, you can just take the sound file.

Just an idea, I don't know if it'll work, but get yourself a double-ended audio jack and plug one end in your speaker output and the other in your mic imput. Find a good MP3 recorder (I don't know of any, any help out there?) and set it to record, then start your movie. Hypothetically, your comp will loop on itself and save the sound from the movie on there. Downside: You won't hear anything while it's recording. But once that's done, I think you'll have a soundtrack. I'll try it on my comp sometime and get back to you.

no, no mac....problem is i dont even have a mic! and im far too cheap. but let me kno if you were able to record it

building on vortext's idea, take the audio output of your dvd player (if it is an external one, rather than a DVD drive) and jack it into the input on your sound card. then download something like wavepad and leave it recording while the dvd runs. it would be time consuming, but should work.
