I did a lot of thinking when I added the post limit feature. This is because I really loathe the possibility of members having to decide which threads to reply to because they are bartering their posts based on importance. But on the other hand, I definitely think that people should naturally value what they say, and that every interraction should matter on this site. Of course there is useless banter that is necessary in life, but I think it is good if people don't get used to venting that necessity here. Although i wanted CC to be a friendly place, I did not want it to be an informal hang out where people hang out for the people rather than the thoughts. I realize that sounds harsh, but the problem with people visitng the site for people is that loyalties are born, cliques are born, and all those interractions blurr the sharing of information. It doesn't hurt to visit the site for the information people share, and even like people for the information they share, but that should never interfere with dissagreement. It's a thin line to walk. Of course I like and am fond of certain people on here, but I realize as i type that that those reasons exist because of the information and mentalities of those people, not because I require their friendships. I would love to make a ranking system showing people as illogical or logical (so as to be ignored or taken seriiously) but such things will pigeonhole people that may be on the verge of awakening, and it would also prevent people from learning how to judge people correctly themselves. This is why the post limit is the best answer I could come up with. It's a transparent method of forcing people who don't value their words on here to value them more.... to think them out more. It doesn't embarass them nor does it limit their interractions with people or the impression they make (since that limit is not imposed on your mailbox). People will always complain as they learn new things, because we're in a day and age of useless rebellion rather than humility.... which is justified because our leaders are not trustworthy. But I feel that in the case of CC, since I have nothing to gain or lose except my own ideals, my imposition of rules here do not need to be rebelled against. That is, of course, also since I will always listen to logical criticism and alter the site based on what the most correct information determines.
