I view Michael Moore as a source of (possible) information only, what is in his films is not necessarily proven fact, although a good portion of it reliable. However, I think he taints his material with his own opinions (how could he not when he is passionate about his work) and that needs to be remembered when forming opinions based on his stuff.

Films are edited......I think I'd be more impressed if Mr. Moore released a film comprised entirely of his cutting room floor clippings.

Back on subject though, Katrina was an embarrasment to the current administration, and like OK and others indicated, it was one of their own creation, no matter how you read the pre-cursors.

Some people hate Bush so much that they would consider Moore a scientist. If he makes a documentary about Bush being part of Al Quida I'm sure some dumby will believe it. Political people like Moore had made propandaga like that throughout history. Only 20 years after Bush will people start being truthful on both side of the debate.

The only dumb thing here is if someone were to rule it out or call it factual before knowing one way or another.

Since Al-Qaida is arguably a creation of western intelligence agencies with nothing more than claims affirming it as soley a muslim extremist organization taking credit for everything over western watched and controlled websites, while also in the face of western forces being captured red handed dressed and armed as "insurgent car bombers"...

I think a beyond dumb thing is to not be concerned of that very thing.

I don't believe Moore ever claimed Bush was "part of Al Quida."

What is the meaning of a Hypocrit: Someone who expects something from someone else that you can not accomplish yourself.

You expect Moore to be honest and yet you tell a lie.

Well what if the world was flat - The Indian Nation would still be alive today because Columbus would have fallen off the earth.

What if is just another kind of dreaming.

You don't prove nothing by coming up with "what ifs"

Now lets talk about about what is.

Mr. Bush was on vacation while people in New Orleans and Mississippi were going without food and water and crying for help. That's what is - and it's pretty damn poor.

Before Katerina most people were unprepared for what was to come. I say that Bush, the mayor, and the governor could've done a better job. They had years of ability to reconstruct the levees and didn't. America should've been more on alert then it was.

You are right. Mr. Bush should have fixed those levies and when the Govenor asked GWB to give me everything he had, she should have made sure he understood that and got it in writing.

The Mayor - its a little complicated. There was a funding problem. Poor people don't pay a lot of taxes and rich oil companies don't have to.

Nobody seems to mention that last year they had a full evacuation like Huston did and everyone got stuck in a traffic jam. If they would have tried that this year, they all would have died in a traffic jam.

The only thing that I could think of that the Mayor could have done differently was demand that the LA National Guard be brought back to provide protection and help during the hurricane season. He might not have succeeded, but it was something he could have done.

People claim that if the hurricane hit Florida that more people would've been saved. My saying was "No, thaa!" Florida gets hit by hurricanes every year. People have bags packed for emergency huricannes, they probably have a traffic plans, and instant relief plans. Florida got hit by a lot of hurricanes last year but it didn't have as much of a castrophe. New Orleans have been built feet under the sea level. Nobody paid much attention to the levee. It is in hurricane zone but it is ovisious that nobody thought stuff like this was going to happen. Some say there was a conspiracy. We can't say any of that because the problem was that nobody was ready.

You say you can't say anything about anything else other than that no one was ready?

This is not the first devastating hurricane to cripple that region. The levee lessons were learned more than once and have been targeted issues for years, as well as traffic etc.

The conspiracy issue comes in more than one facet, from claims of witnessed craters from obvious explosives in levees and ear witnesses to the explosions, to local law enforcement actually having to block FEMA from destroying emergency communications, generators, and blocking aid and locally available assets.

Of course you or I cannot make any claim of conspiracy, only those witnessing it can, and they have, regardless of how it is ignored or treated as lunacy by mainstream media.

I saw a strange article that claimed terrorists sabatoged the levies. I didn't read it because I just don't believe that. But were did that article come from and why was it put out there?

But the government didn't have to bomb the levies, everybody knew would fail on there own.

Why did FEMA cut communications?

The whole thing just pisses me off.

Mississippi still isn't getting help.

This would go along with other reports of Navy ships using electro magnetic interference to control all flow of information, telephones, cell phones, recording equipment.

This allows for a story of a massive scale to be controlled and told to one's liking.

This is how we can know that even in the modern world of home video and uber surveylance that even in the heart of American soil, our own government is capable of creating controlled media reporting with otherwise complete info blackout on massive scales.

And since the only things we get to hear besides reporters and pundits, first reporting what they see and then pundits spinning it, is statements from local and state governments being at odds with federal government.

To the point of claims of malfeasance, treason, and general intentions of extended chaos, panic, and death.

Which is being written off by people making statements to either promote agendas or cover their ass, a blame game circus, ignoring the point of the initial claims as they scurry to avoid anyone catching on to the severity and reality of criminal acts that have, and possibly still are taking place.

I very much agree - it's sickening - I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like this in my lifetime? Anyways - Important News

quote:
The locals were shocked and frustrated with all the demands Red Cross had for the space before they'd use it.

"We need dehumidifiers." Says Red Cross.
"We need air conditioning." Says Red Cross.
"We need a 100k generator." Says Red Cross.
"We need to power wash the walls, maybe even repaint." Says Red Cross.
"We're afraid of being sued." Says Red Cross.

After waiting eight days (three weeks after the disaster) Red Cross left, and even took their hot lunch van with them.

I asked who's been helping, on the ground, really helping. The National Guard, the Salvation Army, the Southern Baptists. That's it.

Many people have asked how they can help directly, so I talked to some locals last night, the ones that I took portraits of in that sad broken school, and I asked them what the Outside World could send them. The list came back, pitifully long and basic. This is one month later, and still they need such basic things:

--Packaged socks, and underwear, all sizes (and I was told by a big girl not to forget the big girls in this size request)
--Daily toiletries, like deodorant, shaving cream and razors, and soap (including laundry soap)
--Bug spray and sunblock
--Daily staples like coffee, sugar, salt, pepper
--Towels, all sizes
--Ice chests
--Clothes hangers and clothes pins
--Rubber boots, all sizes
--Gas cans
--Trash bags
--Lights and bulbs, in case generators ever show up

And the larger, lifesaving items, but harder to ship:
--Generators (still no power down there)
--Chain saws (there are thousands of trees down everywhere)
--Tents (not for camping, for living)
--Air mattresses (because sleeping on the ground for a month really sucks)

On the medical front, they're trying to set up a medical clinic to serve people who may be injured by the debris while cleaning up, and the large poverty-stricken elderly population, and I spoke with the volunteer doctor who was working on that. She's asked for home blood pressure monitors, nebulizers for asthma patients, and thermometers. She also pleaded for any doctors, nurses, or assistants to come down and volunteer at the clinic, even if just briefly. There are many poor patients down there who haven't gotten social security or Medicare checks since the storm hit, and many of their medical referrals were to New Orleans, now also gone as an option. And the state of Mississippi is notorious for not caring for it's citizens medical needs.

So, if you have any of these things, or skills, and want to step in to fill the huge gap our government has left, please send them to:

Charles Murphy Elementary School
c/o Operation Eden
6096 1st Street
Pearlington MS 39572

Because, it's just you and me here. This isn't a two-week issue. It's not a two-month issue. This is long term. Do you want to live in a world where it's every man for himself?

Update: USPS (government) mail might not make it to the school, as it's being forwarded to Waveland, and I don't know if anybody's picking it up. Locals confirm, though, that UPS and FedEx have been making deliveries to the school, so packages sent via those companies should work. See a trend? Government not working (FEMA, USPS), private groups working (UPS, FedEx, Salvation Army). It almost looks intentional.

IN a doctor's office, when the flaming bush comes on the TV.
Having heard his comments, I spoke out loud saying "ya know that guy kind of reminds me of my ol' man, A day late & A dollar short. Dad was so well known to be tardy, that it was a common joke: 1)If he was an hour late, he was right on time & 2) He would be late to His own funeral. A coupe across from me & smiled joining the conversation. We had a common bond, we both had been active in Hurricane relief previously & we both saw huge discrepenies (sp) between past efforts in Florida & that which was going on in New Orleans.

Look at this way, I put a web page up about how pollution had effect [produced a flesh eating organism] the use of the St. John River. So now when they find that some problem arises out of their greed, they have a scrapgoat [scapegoat], it was caused by Terrorist.

I just recently joined Veterans For Peace - Never heard of them until Cindy Sheehan.

But they're working with Michael Moore on Hurricane relief and doing a heck of a job.

Here'e an article that never made the major news but should have:

There was another article more personal, but I couldn't find it.

Anybody know how to get 36 hours out of a 24 hour day. So much to do. Oh well, we do what we can
