At that point all I had was based on upbringing and no real faith at all. Faith is born out of experience not education. It wasn't until after that point that I really found faith in anything.

etherealmeekle - I asked you to share that story a while ago and I'm glad you finally did. Thanks - I'm sure it'll be helpful to a lot people here.

but how do you know that the personal experience pointed toward a Christian God rather than a Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, etc. deity?

Because I've asked and the Christian God has been the only deity to ever respond. That would indicate that He is if nothing else at least more powerful than the other gods.

Because it would be be a very weak god who would appear under false pretenses. If it was the god of Muslims then why would he be ashamed to admit who he really is?

Besides each god has defining points and the God of my experience is the God of the Bible

I hope you're joking. Nothing in what he said indicates a sign of a Christian God over others, and I doubt he has details untold that would indicate such either.

So you're telling me that I didn't receive any awareness of God? I experienced God and He has revealed Himself as the God of the Bible.

sure i can believe that BUT that still doesn't prove that the Christian god is the real god because countless others have had religious experiences pointing them to another God. What makes one religious experience right and all the others wrong? i still don't think personal experience no matter how amazing it might be is grounds for saying that the Christian god is the real god

past embrace

it makes sense cause shes 14...
no one should be tryingto prove their god thye believe in is better than any other gods. its not a competetion and just the fact that you found a god should make you content

agreed.

this debate is becoming cyclic and I think that if anyone (including me) had something highly convincing to say they would have already said it

There is nothing that can convice anyone of anything. No words spoken by anyone here can change anybody's mind. The point is to put forth ideas and then see how they manifest themselves.

Would possibly reattempt to clarify how that specific determination came about, say, past just saying it did.
