Don't ignore the fact, Cirrus, that a person, right now, in THIS world, can't be stopped from killing you and raping your missus, if they really want to. Let alone a hundred people standing in your apartment. Shotgun or no.

I'm talking about reducing the odds, and a beat down old house won't entirely scream, 'Hidden lair underneath!', nor would it hurt to be trained in martial arts. The world you described at the beginning of this thread explained a world where good AND bad things occur and the city was destroyed. Not just unending waves of psychotic hoards and raving looneys in a barren wasteland devoid of any remainents of the city. There's also the fact that you haven't given us any tangable information to build off, like how much of the city is left, whats wrong with the water/soil, is the city in the hills, or on a plain? But we've only been given a vague concept.

So please, paint a picture for me. Show me the world you envisage, and I'll show you how to live in it.

"The fact that the world is desolate means that if you have a defensive structure, they are going to be more attracted to what you have inside."

not really... if i was a person looking for survival, sex, and luxorys and im not smart enough to get my own... i would care less about sieging a fort.

which is easier... trying to get into a hot girls pants over time and talking and blah blah blah... or hiring a whore. same concept
