"Love is like fire. When you have it lit, it's warm, and mesmerizing. If you suddenly thrust your hand in it burns. But when the fire's out you are left cold, and wishing for it to come back." - Christina Marie Power (myself)

Time, reality, humans [+ favourites]

During an eclipse, there must be one single point in time when the moon perfectly blocks the view of the sun between us and the sun. I still find this miraculous how this happens perfectly…there are some clues about…we just got to look for them . Anyway the point is I don’t think that point in time every actually happens. There is never a singular moment in time. Why? Because if there were no weaves between particular elements these elements would never interact.

So my point is this: is the human brain actually something quite remarkable: we can imagine static things even though in reality they never exist?

you're right on the point that there is actually no singular point in time.

time is our ability to compare two moving objects, and because all objects are always moving, even if on a molecular level, if they stopped, we would be unable to compare and thus time would stop. once time stops, time cannot progress and it will never start again.

this is the reason that absolute zero (the point at which the molecules stand still) will never be obtained because if it is, time will stop and that is impossible.
