Where does a smart man hide a leaf? In the forest. But what do you do when there is no forest? He plants a forest so that he can hide the leaf, and if he needs to hide a dead leaf, he plants a dead forest. Supposedly, a so-called “round table” on the Chechen subject will gather in Moscow in the end of March on the initiative of the Council of Europe. That’s when we will get to see a pitiful sight: planting of a dead forest. In the prelude to this clownery both sides -- Russia and the Council of Europe -- staged “unfriendly” relations beforehand and had an exchange of mutual accusations towards each other. Moscow demanded that the Council of Europe stops monitoring the situation with human rights, and the Council of Europe in turn pointed at the flaws in the Russian judicial system and at the “complicated political situation” in Chechnya. According to the plan of the scriptwriters, such behavior is supposed to stress on the neutral position of the Europeans in the issue of peace settlement of the Russian-Chechen relations. So, from the outside it may seem that the Council of Europe organized that endeavor in defiance of Moscow’s will. And it is a known fact that there is one single thing that Moscow wants to talk to Chechens about: their capitulation. The Council of Europe has proved to be a good student of the Kremlin’s “political scientists”, the masters of political scams. And judging from movements that the Europeans have been making, one may assume that they are not trying to get any practical results from that idea at all. During his visit to Moscow Terry Davis stressed that as Secretary General of the Council of Europe, he does not support any separatist sentiments in any of the CE member states. In other words, CE Secretary General has officially confirmed that the organization, which he is in charge of, sticks to fascist ideology of “chosen nations”. According to this logic, not all of the nations are given the right to freedom. Besides, Terry Davis confirmed what many Chechen politicians have been claiming: that PACE and other similar organizations are nothing but an assemblage of liars and hypocrites. How else could you interpret the words of Secretary General, whose organization has signed the final document on the 1997 elections in Chechnya, which were conducted in compliance with the Constitution of the independent Chechen State? Moreover, the head of the Council of Europe echoed Putin in unison when he said that he sees no difference between the fight of the Chechen people for Freedom and terrorism, and that he could understand the unwillingness of the Kremlin regime to negotiate with those responsible (!) for the tragedy in Beslan. And CE Secretary General said these words right in the office of the one who several times over had issued the order to kill hundreds of children in Beslan. Time will tell whether CE wants to take the niche of the closest friend of the murderer of the Chechen people, which the US just vacated. But thank God, it doesn’t matter to the Chechen people at all and it will in no way have any effect on the situation in Chechnya. Had Chechens ever started hoping for PACE and other similar gatherings of talkers and hypocrites even for a minute, that would have been a real disaster. Why did PACE need the “round table” scam in Moscow? On the whole, this question is rhetorical. Apparently, that undertaking was supposed to attach appearance of seriousness and legitimacy to the ongoing genocide in Chechnya, as well as to cover the ringleader of Russian regime Putin so he can avoid responsibility. The Kremlin regime, experienced in machinations and lies, has found its accomplices in Europe in order to stage another clownery, and to keep exterminating the Chechen people under that guise. In this connection the statements made by the Chechen Parliament and by Envoys of Chechen President Abroad, as well as the most recent statement released by CRI Foreign Ministry, were very timely. European conspirators were warned that official representatives of Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (CRI) may suspend all contacts with PACE completely. Should’ve done it long time ago. Let them know that they won’t get away with the guarantee of Putin’s safety, which the PACE leadership wants to give him with the attempts to “Chechenize” the Russian-Chechen war. No “Chechenization” was successful for the past 10 years, nor will it be successful now. Moscow and Europe will get (and they have already gotten) the New Caucasus War instead of “Chechenization”. Terry Davis and his accomplice Andreas Gross have no real political project. They just voluntarily assumed the role of Putin’s political toilet cleaners. To put it bluntly, this role is pretty unenviable and disgraceful. In response to peace initiatives from the Chechen side, the Europeans and Moscow came up with the “round table” scam. But for any sober observer it is absolutely obvious that there are no conditions for achieving real peace in the Caucasus without starting negotiations with the legitimate CRI authorities. Terry Davis said that the Council of Europe is not going to open its office in Chechnya again. But would the Chechens really like the presence of an organization run by a buddy of Stalin’s fosterling?
